The Bureau of Plant Industry is a is a regulatory and service division of the Mississippi Department of Agriculture & Commerce, which is operated by the government of the state of Mississippi. The bureau works for protecting the state s agricultural and horticultural interests from harmful insects, diseases and weeds. It administers state and federal laws, regulations and programs that deal with animal feed, plant pests and honeybees. The bureau maintains cooperative agreements with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Agriculture. The Bureau of Plant Industry is responsible for granting pesticide licenses, permits and certificates in Mississippi.
