The Mississippi Air National Guard (MSANG) consists of approximately 2,600 airmen. The guard s units have served in the Korean Conflict, World War II, Berlin Crisis, Operation Desert Shield, and Operation Desert Storm. It maintains 172d Airlift Wing and 186th Air Refueling Wing for in-flight refueling needs. The Mississippi Air National Guard also hosts the 255th Air Control Squadron and the 209th Civil Engineering Squadron. The guard is a part of the Mississippi National Guard. Its Combat Readiness Training Center features more than 8,000 foot lighted runway, over 50 barracks and nearly 10 latrines. The center also includes a mess hall, medical building and administrative complex.
