Zimmerman is a rural community located about 45 miles northwest of St. Paul, in Sherburne County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 5,228 at the 2010 census.
U.S. Route 169 serves as a main arterial route in the city.
The Village of Lake Fremont was incorporated in 1910. In 1967, the town was re-named the City of Zimmerman. Lake Fremont was named for the western explorer, John C. Frémont, and the name Zimmerman derives from Moses Zimmerman, a local farmer who was influential in promoting the idea of the Great Northern Railway coming through the area.
