WCRA, also known as the Workers' Compensation Reinsurance Association, is a nonprofit organization that reinsures workers' compensation insurers and self-insured employers in the state of Minnesota. Established in 1979, it ensures financial security for employers and seriously injured workers by providing a range of reinsurance coverage services. WCRA oversees a full-time staff of more than 25 employees who manage the business of the organization, including general reinsurance administration, claims handling and rehabilitation, information services, and actuarial and financial functions. The organization also operates a claims services department that provides expert claims and rehabilitation advice in catastrophic injuries, as well as assists members in various areas, such as reserving practices and settlement evaluation.
