Donald Weeres, a 35-year-old farm boy from Richmond, Minn, founded Spee-Dee Delivery Service in 1978 as a small delivery company. It began as an on-call courier service with Weeres using his pickup truck to deliver packages to local businesses. The goal was to build an alternative overnight delivery service that offered customers better services at a lower price than the competition. Located in St. Cloud, Minn., and in operation for the past 25 years, Spee-Dee Delivery Service has grown into a company of 1,100 employees strong, and now operate hundreds of trucks to deliver packages on a daily and overnight basis.
