Founded in 1872, S.B. Foot Tanning Company produces leather primarily for the manufacture of footwear. The company s product line also includes leather with camouflage patterns for boots and accessories, and leather for upholstery. S.B. Foot is a subsidiary of Red Wing Shoe Company. When Red Wing Shoe Company started making boots, people still rode horses to work. In 1905, Charles H. Beckman founded Red Wing Shoe Company in the river town of Red Wing, Minn. The first boot sold for $1.75. Red Wing designs and manufactures boots and shoes in more than 150 styles. Cowboy, construction, logging, lineman, hiking and waterproof boots are among the types of boots made by the company. Red Wing also supplies socks, insoles, laces, belts, caps and a line of oils, conditioners and other boot care products. Red Wing has three facilities in the United States and sells products worldwide.
