The National Multiple Sclerosis Society provides information on multiple sclerosis to patients, their families and health care providers. The society provides funds research and professional education on multiple sclerosis. Founded in 1946, it supports research organizations to find cause, cure and improved treatments of the disease. With a presence in Minneapolis, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society s navigator program offers a partner to every person suffering with multiple sclerosis. The society provides more than educational brochures, support groups, family programs and chapter-based educational programs to more than 75,000 participants. Its clinical programs offer literature and educational training to assist primary care physicians, neurologists, nurse practitioners and other health professionals. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society collects money from individual gifts, membership dues, legacies, special events and federal grants.
