History
Since its incorporation more than 40 years ago, the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (UICA) has offered the community innovative experiences in the latest art forms and exposure to the newest creative ideas. Today, we present programs in visual arts, dance, literature, performance art and music and provide artists with studio space, sales support and educational opportunities all under one roof. UICA provides a forum for inclusive community dialogue, challenges stereotypes, and promotes arts and cultural awareness. UICA is an auxiliary of Kendall College of Art & Design of Ferris State University.
Specialties
UICA exhibits contemporary artwork from regional, national and international artists throughout the year. UICA hosts a range of events including docent-led tours, performance art, artist receptions, and gallery talks. UICA is an auxiliary enterprise within Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University. Through compelling exhibitions, events, community programs, public art, and youth development, we actively challenge both artists and audiences to new levels of dialogue, creative pursuit, and reflection.
