The Barry County Substance Abuse Task Force (SATF) is a collaborative coalition of over 30 member agencies and individuals dedicated to preventing substance abuse in Barry County, Michigan. Originally established in 2004 to address methamphetamine issues, the SATF expanded its focus in 2007 to include all substance abuse issues in the community, with a special emphasis on preventing youth substance abuse risk behaviors.
Comprised of representatives from law enforcement, healthcare, schools, businesses, and various community coalitions, the SATF works together to address the problems and issues caused by substance abuse, while also striving to bring about positive change in the attitudes and behaviors of residents. As an educational collaboration, the SATF does not provide direct substance use disorder treatment services, but works closely with the Barry County Mental Health Authority to connect individuals with the appropriate resources and support.
