Originally founded as a mission to serve area Catholics during World War II, St. Joseph's offered its first mass in a storefront at Greenfield Road and Rotunda Drive in 1942. In 1953, ground was broken for the church on the 10-acre site it occupies today. St. Joseph's is situated in a park setting with a garden, a rectory and the Fr. Gerard S. Brennan Parish Hall, adjacent to the church. St. Martha's Catholic Church is the sister church.
