Rochester Gear was founded in 1933 as National Electric Welding Machines Company and changed its name to Newcor in 1969. The company designs and manufactures a variety of products principally for the automotive, heavy-duty, agricultural and industrial markets. It is focused on two core competencies that include precision machined components and molded rubber and plastic products. Rochester Gear also operates the Bay City Division that designs and builds welding and forming equipment. In 2003, the company was purchased by EXX, a publicly held company traded on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol EXX.A and EXX.B. Rochester Gear is also a component supplier utilizing strategic business management for customer and technology focus. The company aims to grow through customer and supplier partnerships, technology, operational excellence and focused acquisitions. Rochester Gear is located in Clifford and Royal Oak, Mich.
