The Michigan Community Scholars Program (MCSP) is a social justice-oriented residential learning community at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Comprised of undergraduate students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds, MCSP aims to support students in their transition to college, develop their intercultural competence, and promote their overall well-being. Through small classes, close faculty interaction, and meaningful community engagement opportunities, MCSP fosters academic excellence and prepares students for leadership roles in campus, state, and national settings.
MCSP students work towards social change in areas such as health and wellness, environmental sustainability, youth education, rural-urban poverty, and housing and food insecurity. By living and working with peers from various cultural, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds, MCSP students strive to create an ideal community. The program equips students with the necessary skills for successful careers and encourages them to make a positive impact on society, ultimately preparing them for lives of service to the common good in a diverse democracy.
