History
Originally opened as the Campbell House, one of Bay City's first hotels, in 1868, the building first became a bar in the 1940s. Throughout the past 70-plus years it's been known by a few names--Gus' Bar, Al's Bar & Tavern, Dry Dock Bar & Tavern, the Pink Garter Lounge, Finnegan's Lounge and finally, in 2005, Jake's Corner Lounge. New owners purchased Jake's in 2015 and made significant upgrades to the building, both inside and out, including restoring the north wall of the bar to include floor-to-ceiling windows.
Specialties
People are always asking us what kind of bar Jake's is and we have a tough time answering. We've got a little bit of sports bar in us (high def TVs all around the room, NFL Sunday Ticket, Detroit sports always on), a little bit of dive bar (daily happy hour from noon-6PM), a little bit of a tap room (17 always-changing taps and a great selection of domestic bottles and cans) and a little bit of a cocktail bar (one of the best-stocked bars you will find in the Great Lakes Bay Region). We are open from noon until 2AM, seven days a week and almost 365 days a year (we have families, too, so our holiday hours are a bit shorter). We've got a great jukebox, a couple brand new Golden Tee machines and a dart board. And if you just want to relax with your drink, the front wall is all window looking out on the beautiful Third Street Star Bridge. Come check it out for yourself.
