Blocks away from Michigan's state Capitol building in downtown Lansing is Impression 5 Science Center, a hands-on space for families to explore and experience science in their own way. Their mission is to facilitate learners in scientific exploration through exhibits and educational programming.
In essence: Play. Create. Challenge
Best and Worst Time to Visit Impression 5
Because Saturdays are their busiest days, it's recommended that visitors opt for a weekday when congestion in the building is at its lowest. There is a lounge dedicated to snack and lunch time for visitors who pack their own food and plan to stay the whole day.
One of the worst times to visit is in the summer on Be a Tourist in Your Own Town day, where thousands of people flock to downtown Lansing and take advantage of Impression 5's free admission.
Must See at Impression 5
New exhibits are always moving in and out of Impression 5, ensuring every visit is different from the last. While the center always keeps around a few old favorites for nostalgia purposes -- the giant mouth found in the lobby -- there's always something new on the floor for kids and adults alike to play with.
Admission to Impression 5
Adults are $7, with Seniors paying $6.50. Children, 1-year and older, are $7.00 with children under 1-year-old free.
Parking and Public Transportation to Impression 5
Impression 5 has its own free parking lot in the city of Lansing, located behind and in front of the building.
The Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA) has bus routes throughout the city to get you to the science center. Use CATA's Trip Planner to determine what route is best from your specific location.
Food at Impression 5
Impression 5 does not have it's own food service, although visitors are encouraged to bring their own. There is a space, furnished with tables and chairs, dedicated to visitors who bring their lunch and snacks from home.
There are also numerous restaurants within walking distance of the science center. Just ask the friendly staff for recommendations.
