Grosse Pointe Memorial Church is a 1300 member congregation of the Presbyterian Church ( U.S.A. ) Started in 1865 as the Grosse Pointe Evangelical Protestant Association, our 145 year history is a rich one. The greatest treasures we have are our members. As a Presbyterian church, we are a congregation where every member is a minister. We are all called to do God's work in the world, not just our pastors. In light of that commitment, the following vision statement was adopted in the late 1990s. The mission of Grosse Pointe Memorial Church is to worship God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and to embody the love and joy of Jesus Christ in our community and the world. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to be energizing in worship, spiritually alive, welcoming to all, and expanding our outreach. Our 2009 annual report is available here, as well as the 2008 annual report and part of a pastor's "State of the Church" slide show given at our annual officer retreat. Separately or taken together, they have a lot to say about active congregation. Thanks to the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, we expect that 2010 will see even more growth in outreach for all ages, new and creative worship, and a focus on equipping disciples of all ages to share in God's ministry in the world. Other highlights of our life together are a strong Presbyterian Women's association, a yearly visit from an international ecumenical minister, and a strong connection to a denomination that is doing great things in the world. Grosse Pointe Memorial Church is served by an outstanding staff of ministers and lay people.
