The Ferry Street Resource Center is a non profit advocacy and referral center funded, in part, by the Department of Housing and Urban Development with support from the City of Niles and through various fund raising and grant assistance programs. The facility is housed in the historic Ferry Street School, formerly known as the "the old colored school". As a community advocacy center, the focus of the Ferry Street Resource Center (FSRC) is to educate and empower residents that live within the north central side of the city and beyond. The major areas of concentration will be in community health, educational enhancement, employment training, well family services and cultural awareness.The mission statement of the Ferry Street Resource Center is to access support services and create educational, employment, cultural, and recreational programs and activities that enhance the quality of living for the clients served.
