Founded in 1982, the Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan is an animal rescue organization that finds homes for unwanted and stray puppies, dogs, cats and kittens. It educates people on responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying and neutering. The organization rescues animals from kill shelters and gas chamber pounds. The Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan provides physical examination, vaccination and treatment services. It adopts more than 700 cats and dogs every year. The organization has a more than 4,000-square-foot facility for animals of all ages. In addition, the Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern offers the Free Pet Food Program for individuals. It has partnerships with A-Care Animal Clinic, Advanced Animal Hospital, Eastpointe Animal Hospital and Dworkis Dog & Cat Hospital. The Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan is located in Madison Heights, Mich.
