Caseville Map
Caseville is a city in Huron County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 888 at the 2000 census. The city is surrounded by Caseville Township. It is home to the 10-day Cheeseburger in Caseville festival, a tribute to Jimmy Buffett's song "Cheeseburger in Paradise". It has been also called the Perch Capital of Michigan for its extraordinary catches of the native fish yellow "perch".
As of the census of 2000, there were 888 people, 432 households, and 241 families residing in the village. The population density was 778.4 per square mile (300.8/km²). There were 698 housing units at an average density of 611.9 per square mile (236.4/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.52% White, 0.23% African American, 0.56% Native American, 0.34% Asian, 0.11% from other races, and 1.24% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.35% of the population.
There were 432 households out of which 19.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.9% were married couples living together, 6.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 44.2% were non-families. 39.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 23.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.01 and the average family size was 2.68.
