History
Van Gogh's Gear was opened, by an artist, on July 15, 2003, in a little cottage on Middle St., in downtown Lowell, MA. In 2013, the store moved to its new location on Market St. where it now shares a building dedicated to the arts, with the store, an art gallery and 34 artists' studios.
Specialties
Since July, 2003, when we greeted our first customer, we have been supplying students and professionals alike with the art supplies they need to get through their next class or their next project. We have assembled thousands of kits for Middlesex Community College students and have helped UMass Lowell students fill their materials lists. Professional artists have been coming to Van Gogh's Gear since the day we opened. Since day one, we have been providing one thing that cannot be found online. . .a conversation. We are artists and we love to talk about art and art materials. Van Gogh's Gear stocks carefully chosen student grade and professional grade brands for every major visual arts medium (sorry, we do not stock photography materials), then we have filled the remaining space in the store with all of the supporting materials that any artist could need.
