Founded in 1952 as the Norm Prescott School of Broadcasting and briefly known as Massachusetts Communications College, the New England Institute of Art is now part of a for-profit chain of art institutes that stretches across the country. Spread over a number of buildings in Brookline Village, it offers bachelors degrees in subjects like advertising, graphic design, interior design and sound and video editing. The audio department is its most popular, and the campus gives students access to recording studios and equipment.
