Members of the church first began meeting to discuss forming a Protestant Episcopal Church in Wellesley in 1891. Women outnumbered men in the group. In 1892, the mission was admitted as a parish at the Diocesan convention. The parish took the name St. Andrew's, at the urging of Senior Warden John A. Porter, a member of the original St. Andrew's in Plymouth, England, which dates back to 1087.

The church has three floors and includes the Wellesley Montessori School. The rector is Addison Hall, who has been with the church since 1990.

The church parking lot is just west of the church on the left side of Washington Street between Denton Road and Cottage Street (traveling west on Washington). Parking is also available on Denton Road and Washington Street. The public lot located on the corner of Weston Road and Washington Street is also available on Sunday mornings.

Christian Science Church

Christian Science Church

The current home of the First Church of Christ, Scientist was built in 1927. The Wellesley branch of the church was formed in 1899, when two Wellesley College students, Rebecca M. White and Mary V. Little, began reading lessons on Sundays in their dormitory, as they were not allowed to travel to their Christian Scientist Church in Boston. Florence Weston, a Wellesley resident, invited them to worship at her home, and the rest is history. The church marked its 100th anniversary in 2004, and continues to be a thriving spot for worship in Wellesley. Visit the church's Web site for more information.
