The Somerville Chamber of Commerce has "served the membership while enhancing Somerville's quality of life" since 1946. Implementing an array of initiatives, including face-to-face networking meetings, a growing electronic presence that connects people to clients, vendors and information, as well as having a hand in local and city government, President and CEO Stephen Mackey is always looking to improve the business experience. Holding events such as question and answer sessions with the Mayor, an annual golf tournament and an Octoberfest, the establishment is currently involved in improving infrastructure by trying to lure the Orange and Green Lines of the MBTA to Somerville.
The chamber is always looking to expand its membership, for which the only prerequisite is doing business in Somerville. Communicating with the members, city officials and the media—and by issuing a weekly newsletter—the chamber is constantly getting involved in new areas. Consult the website for details.
