VNA of Middlesex-East opened the nine-bed Sawtelle Family Hospice House in 2003 for patients with terminal illnesses.
Each patient has a private room that comes with a television, phone and Internet access, as well as a sitting area for friends and family. Seven of the rooms also offer private bathrooms.
The hospice provides common areas, such as community kitchens, a dining area, a library, a garden, a living room and a sunroom. The house also offers three private guest bedrooms for family members who would like to stay overnight.
Visitors are welcome 24 hours a day and pets may also visit.
