The extraordinarily popular Piattini is tailored to appeal to the true epicurean. If enormous portions and unadventerous sauce is what you've come to expect of Italian food, Piattini's small portions and sophisticated flavors will rock your world. Here, it's possible (and encouraged) to try many different things instead of filling up on a single menu item. There is a $3 "split-plate fee" for shared items.
The pricing is excellent. Nothing on the lunch menu exceeds $10.95 (ravioli stuffed with lobster and served in a lobster cream sauce), and nothing on the dinner menu exceeds $21.95 (tender milk-fed veal with porcini and shitake mushrooms, asparagus, and a mushroom demi glaze). Piattini has a large selection of international wines and an equally impressive cocktail menu, which includes eight kinds of coffee liqueur alone. The restaurant provides lovely outdoor seating on Newbury Street (at garden level). It is critically acclaimed, having received high praise on Fox 25 News and TV Diner Destinations, as well as in the Phantom Gourmet, Zagat and Wine Enthusiast.
