History
Partners In Development (PID) was founded as an organization committed to the education and economic advancement of the developing world. PID works in direct partnership with those living in extreme poverty through our national overseas staff in Haiti. PID began by offering a Child Sponsorship program so children could attend school and eat every day. We then began our Small Business Loan program, which lends participants capital to start or further develop a business. Squalor living conditions prompted the beginning of the Housing program, moving families to sturdy homes with bathroom facilities, clean water and a yard. A Medical Program was established in 2003 to provide free, basic medical treatment, preventive care, and health education services. Over the last 15 years, PID has expanded to also serve communities in Guatemala, the Mississippi Delta, and Peru.
Specialties
Serving the Poorest of Poor Since 1990 Partners In Development, Inc. (PID) strives to help the poorest of the poor attain independence and whole life improvement. PID combines a variety of programs to achieve community transformation in places where hope is often lost in the cycle of poverty. Through child sponsorships, small business loans, housing opportunities and medical care we aim to transform communities so they can be self-sufficient. Our work is focused in the neediest sections of Haiti, Guatemala, the Mississippi Delta, and Peru. PID hosts Service Trips each location throughout the year. Trip attendees can learn how to build a house by hand, help with a children's program, and licensed health professionals can volunteer their services in our medical clinics.
