The Metropolitan Wind Symphony, founded in 1971 by Jerry Gardner, is a unique concert band based in Jamaica Plain, MA. Comprised of over 60 talented woodwind, brass, and percussion instrumentalists, the ensemble presents formal performances of traditional and contemporary wind band literature, as well as more informal pops concerts throughout the metropolitan Boston area.
Recognized for its exceptional musical quality, the Metropolitan Wind Symphony was awarded the prestigious 2015 Sudler Silver Scroll Award for Community Concert Bands by the John Philip Sousa Foundation. With a mission to contribute to the cultural life of the Greater Boston community, the MetWinds provides audiences with high-quality concerts and offers its members opportunities for musical growth.
