Samaritans Suicide Prevention
Samaritans, Inc. is a non-denominational, not-for-profit volunteer organization dedicated to reducing the incidence of suicide in the greater Boston and Metrowest communities in Massachusetts. With a focus on suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention, Samaritans provides life-saving services to over 100,000 people each year through their 24-hour helpline, Samariteens for teens in despair, grief support services for those who have lost loved ones to suicide, and community education and outreach programs. Supported by more than 400 volunteers, including 100 teenagers, Samaritans' volunteers come from diverse backgrounds and receive extensive training to become telephone befrienders and provide emotional support to those in crisis. In addition to their helpline services, Samaritans offers support groups, visits to homes for emotional support, and training workshops on suicide prevention. Committed to their mission, Samaritans is always looking for dedicated volunteers to assist with events, administrative tasks, and other ways to contribute to their cause.Generated from the website
