Founded in 1988, Horizons for Homeless Children is an independent, nonprofit organization that serves homeless children and their families. It operates various recreational and shelter facilities. The organization has served more than 2,500 children, as well as maintains community centers that provide full-time educational programs for over 150 students. It also offers advocacy, job training and technical assistance services. The organization works in association with state and federal government officials. Horizons for Homeless Children organizes national and local conferences, as well as spring galas, marathons and award dinners. In addition, the organization provides Playspace Programs, which features facilities that are equipped with books, climbing structures and art supplies. It operates various community children's centers that have served nearly 1,000 children.
