Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group was established in 1955 as one of the first cooperative groups launched to perform multicenter cancer clinical trials in all types of adult cancers in the United States. Funded by the National Cancer Institute, the organization comprises more than 6,000 physicians, nurses, pharmacists, statisticians and clinical research associates from the U.S., Canada and South Africa. Its institutional members include universities, medical centers, community clinical oncology programs and cooperative group outreach programs. The organization provides research results to the worldwide medical community through scientific publications and professional meetings. Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group has offices in Boston and Philadelphia.
