One of many nonprofit groups headquartered inside the Congregational Library building, the Family to Family Project works to prevent family homelessness by providing emergency financial assistance.
The project was founded in 1988 and serves eastern Massachusetts. It's governed by an eleven-member board of directors and run by three staff members. Since its founding, the project has helped save more than 84,000 Massachusetts families from homelessness.
The project partners with other agencies that identify at-risk families. Family to Family then provides the necessary financial assistance to keep those families off the streets.
Family to Family is entirely privately funded and relies on donations from individuals, corporations and foundations.
In order to qualify for assistance, families must first be identified as in need by a partner organization and also have one or more children age eighteen or under.
