The Island Yarn Company is in the Colonial Shopping Plaza on River Street at the corner of Seyon Sreet. It has been in business since 2004 and under the present owner since 2007. This store sells a large assortment of yarns and accessories. Yarns are available in numerous colors and types, including organic and vegan. The owner of the business, who is also a Waltham resident, makes her own yarn, which is sold in the store. Other items for sale include knitting needles, buttons, books and other accessories. The Island Yarn Company is the only yarn store in Waltham. Classes and open knitting nights are held on a regular basis. It also organizes charity knitting projects.
