Hillsboro, N.H., native Franklin Pierce was president of the United States when the Commonwealth of Massachusetts chartered the East Cambridge Savings Bank as a mutual savings bank in 1854. The bank is involved a wide range of community activities which include human services, civic and charitable endeavors. Through the East Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation, it provides support to thousands of area residents.
