History
In the 1990s Chow lived in Fitchburg, MA and often enjoyed returning. Her partner, Jeremy Pendleton, attended FSU and interned at the mayor's office. The two felt as if there was a need to revitalize the downtown, but did not know how they could help. In 2013, Chow and Pendleton experienced the immersive play, Sleep No More, in New York City. Set in the 1920s, they walked through the set, or rooms, and felt as if they had traveled back in time, but wished there was something for the audience to solve by snooping among the characters' possessions. In 2015, after Chow had left the film and tv industry as a Set Decorator and moved back to MA, Chow and Pendleton experienced their 1st escape room. Believing they could create a more immersive environment while combining play, they decided to start the non foot-traffic dependent business in Downtown Fitchburg. In Nov 2015, their Kickstarter exceeded their funding goal. In May 2016, Curious Escape Rooms opened.
