The Chelsea Fire Department is a full-service public agency that works to protect lives, property and the environment from the threat and occurrence of fire. The department also provides protection to life and property for the citizens of Massachusetts, against the ravages of medical emergencies, hazardous incidents and dangerous conditions. The Chelsea Fire Department is comprised of various divisions, such as fire suppression, emergency medical response, fire prevention and hazardous material control. Its Fire Suppression Division is responsible for emergency medical and hazardous material response ambulance services. It is operated by the City of Chelsea in Massachusetts, which was founded in 1857 and has a population of more than 35,000 residents.
