Chelsea City Hall is a part of the city of Chelsea, which is an inner urban suburb of Boston, the capital city of Massachusetts. Incorporated as a city in 1857, Chelsea has a population of more than 35,000 individuals. The city operates cemetery, engineering, electric, fire, finance, cable television, customer service, police, recreation and recycling departments. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority provides commuter rail service and bus coverage throughout the city with connections to the metropolitan Boston area. Its parks and highways are maintained by the Metropolitan District Commission and water and sewerage disposal services are provided by the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority. In addition, the city operates a family resource center, schools and several civic organizations.
