With approximately $2 billion in assets, Cambridge Savings Bank is among the largest community banks in Massachusetts. Cambridge Savings Bank has 15 branch locations in Cambridge, Acton, Arlington, Bedford, Belmont, Burlington, Concord, Lexington and Newton, Mass. The bank was founded in 1834 under the name Institution for Savings in Cambridge Massachusetts for the purpose of enabling the average individual to deposit small sums of money, which was unheard of at commercial banks. Cambridge Savings Bank merged with North Avenue Savings Bank in 1971.
