History
Bad Martha Farmer's Brewery was founded by Island residents Jonathan Blum and Peter Rosbeck. Modeled after the tasting rooms in Napa Valley, the brewery is a post and beam barn built by the Amish from Pennsylvania along with Rosbeck's construction company. The brewery won three gold medals and two bronze medals at the Great International Beer Festival in 2014. The three gold medals were awarded for Martha's Vineyard Ale (ESB category), Export Lager (Dortmunder category) and Pumpkin Pie Bock (Fruit & Spice Lager category), and the two bronze medals for White IPA (Belgian Witbier category) and Tim's Beach Plum Ale (Fruit & Spice Belgian category). Blum and Rosbeck created Bad Martha not only to make incredible craft beers, but also around a socially responsible business model that gives back to the community, with the first 10% of profits benefiting local hunger relief. Spent grains from the brewing process are donated to local farms to feed livestock.
