History
I started A Basic Knead after working for 2 years as a massage therapist in another massage therapy business. I had, for some time, been drawn to the structural bodywork paradigm and found the best way to pursue that model would be to start my own business. I continue to maintain relationships with other healthcare professionals and disciplines including physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists, athletic trainers and fitness instructors.
Specialties
At A Basic Knead, we offer a wide variety of therapeutic massage and bodywork modalities, including Swedish massage, Sports massage, Deep Tissue massage, and Myofascial Release. My specialty is KMI Structural Integration, which is a systematic, deep tissue manual therapy designed to reorganize postural and movement patterns via the body's connective tissue network (ie muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia). The most commonly treated problems I see relate to overuse and athletic injuries. My goal in therapy is to eliminate any soft tissue restriction that is creating or maintaining an inefficient use of your body's mechanics, and to help educate you on how to improve it.
