Wildwood Summer Theatre is the DC area's oldest youth-run theatre company, established in 1965 by students from Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, Maryland. Founded out of a desire to continue their high school musical experiences into the summer, the group successfully produced their first show, Bye Bye Birdie, on a shoestring budget, sparking the beginning of WST.
For over 50 years, WST has showcased at least one musical production each summer, featuring a talented company aged 14 to 25. With a rich history of past shows and dedicated alumni, Wildwood Summer Theatre continues to provide young performers with a platform to hone their craft and entertain audiences in Gaithersburg, MD.
