Towson University is the second largest university in Maryland and a member of the University System of Maryland. It has an enrollment of more than 16,000 students, including international students from nearly 100 countries. It maintains thirty academic departments and offers more than 40 majors and 60 concentrations leading to the bachelor's degree. Towson s departments are grouped into six academic subdivisions: liberal arts, natural and mathematical sciences, fine arts and communication, education, health professions and business and economics. Its graduate school offers 26 master's degree programs. Towson's 328-acre campus is located in the suburban community of Towson, Md., eight miles north of downtown Baltimore. The university was established in and has been recognized for its programs in the arts, sciences, business, communications, humanities, health professions, education and computer information systems.
