The Princess Restaurant has been serving fine meals at reasonable prices for four generations. George Pappas Sr. first acquired ownership in 1939. In the early years, the business existed primarily as a confectionary with homemade candies. In the mid-1940s, George Pappas Jr. joined his father in the business. Candy cases were removed to increase dining capacity. The fine homemade candy-making tradition continues exclusively for the Easter season. Whether you are a political junkie or not, you will be interested to know that on June 21,1953, President Harry Truman and wife Bess enjoyed dining here. Be sure to check out the Truman Booth when you visit us! George Jr. and wife Dorothy operated it from 1963 until 1981. George W. Pappas and wife Sheila and family continue the Pappas tradition of making the Princess Restaurant one of Allegany County’s most popular restaurants, located just 4 blocks from Frostburg State University. We offer catering services for all types of events.
