In 1997, two women envisioned a Christian school that would provide children with individualized instruction in a small classroom environment and the outcome was Olney Adventist Preparatory School. The school that opened with two multiage classrooms and three teachers has over the years expanded to eight classrooms with more than 130 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The school offers a Christ-centered and biblically-based curriculum that targets the areas of intellectual development, communication and life skills, and art and music appreciation. Its core curriculum includes Bible, math, English, language arts, science, social studies, history, technology, Spanish, and health and physical education. In addition to in-class instruction, its students also take part in enrichment activities, such as field trips, yearbook committee, spring concert, safety patrol and Christmas programs, and cultural arts and science fairs. Located in Olney, Md., it is accredited through the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges, as well as holds a certificate of accreditation through the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists.
