The Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services (DSS) aides low-income residents, children and families in Anne Arundel County. As the local branch of the Maryland Department of Human Resources, DSS serves to distribute public assistance to those who need it. Some of the agency's duties include: providing residents with access to food stamps and medical assistance, helping residents who can't afford to pay their heating bills in the winter and looking into cases of abuse and neglect in both children and adults.
