NativeVision is a comprehensive year-round program based in Baltimore, MD, that aims to empower Native American youth by promoting physical fitness, healthy nutrition, and positive life skills. The program includes a structured in-school or after-school curriculum, regional sports and life skills camps, and community events and outreach to promote fitness and nutrition. NativeVision is implemented by local Health Coaches who partner with volunteer coaches to lead the camps, and the curriculum and program materials have been developed in partnership with Tribal communities in the Southwest.
Through culturally-based nutrition, fitness, and healthy life skills education, NativeVision provides Native youth with the tools to realize their full physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual potential. The program also includes parent and family engagement, community events, and program monitoring and evaluation to ensure its impact. NativeVision's mission is supported by the Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, and its curriculum materials and technical assistance are available to other tribal communities and programs.
