MHP Graduates Largest Preschool Class MHP held its 2010 Preschool Graduation Ceremony on June 3 at Arcola Elementary School in Silver Spring and had the largest graduating class for its bilingual preschool, with 66 children from 4 locations receiving their certificates of completion. The popular preschool program began in 2001, and each of the 4 locations provide a stimulating environment for children ages 3-5 years old to play, explore and learn three days a week. Graduates from all four locations wore traditional caps and gowns as they marked this important milestone with 200 family members and friends. The purpose of the MHP Preschool is to help children living in our developments get ready for elementary school and the rest of their lives, according to Sulema Middleton Stewart, Director of Human Resources and Community Life Programs at MHP. After a long year of learning the alphabet, colors, shapes and numbers, our students can finally put their pencils and crayons down and be proud of their accomplishment. Attending and completing preschool takes a family commitment, and we are so proud to work with our students and their parents to build a foundation for learning for years to come. MHP's Community Life Programs were created in 1998. In addition to the bilingual preschool program, MHP also provides afterschool homework tutoring for school-aged children, summer enrichment camps, and computer training, among other things.
