Montgomery County Historical Society is a vital part of the cultural and social fabric of Montgomery County. The Society is located two blocks from Rockville Town Center. Its activities range from interpretive tours for children and adults, exhibitions, lectures, living history presentations, publications and presentations.
Its shop is stocked with books, collectibles and unique gifts. History books explore Maryland, African history and Washington D.C. Subjects include historic preservation, genealogy, architecture and textiles. Gift ideas here include jewelry, decorative objects, toys, paper dolls, holiday and seasonal gifts, greeting cards and note cards.
The Society was founded in 1944. Over the years, it has grown from an all-volunteer organization to one with more than 1,400 members, a dedicated group of volunteers and a professional staff. Corporate partners include the Chevy Chase Land Company, Gazette Newspapers, The Kane Company and Stonestreet Contracting. Parking at the facility is limited.
