Linhard's Auto Repair is a member of the Washington, Maryland, Delaware ( M.D.A. ) Service Station and Repair Association, Towing and Recovery Professionals of Maryland ( T.R.P.M. ) and Towing and Recovery Association of America ( T.R.A.A. ).Joe Linhard started the company as a towing service in 1978 with money borrowed from his grandfather. In the beginning, he operated the business in conjunction with Padonia Exxon, owned by his father, John Linhard. After his father's untimely passing, Joe operated out of his mother's garage, eventually purchasing another truck and hiring tow truck operators to help. He provided towing for contract customers, including motor clubs, new car dealerships and independent auto shops. When Joe's truck fleet grew to four vehicles, he rented a garage in Cockeysville for storage and maintenance. After he married, his wife Kathy joined the business, working with Joe to offer top-quality towing services by trucks operated by clean, certified, trained and uniformed personnel.By 1988, Joe and Kathy decided to branch out and looked for a location for an auto repair shop in the fast-growing Cockeysville area. On January 1, 1990, Joe and Kathy moved their business office from their home in Towson to their newly rented auto shop on York Road in Cockeysville. The doors to Linhard's Auto Repair opened the following day with Joe as tow truck operator/mechanic and Kathy as office manager. They also purchased nearby J&J Auto Shop and moved it, along with their towing business, to the new location.Slowly Joe and Kathy built their business. They grew to own six tow trucks, while the auto repair shop went from one mechanic to three and grew large enough to require a move to a new building next door at 11013 York Road, the company's present location.Community ServiceLinhard's Auto Repair is committed to serving and being part of the community.
