At this address since the mid-1970s, this is the Washington affiliate of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, a Hindu Vaishnava religious organization that came to the United States from India in 1966. In addition to the main sanctuary, the site consists of several buildings that serve either as offices or residences.
It offers seven services a day, seven days a week, and welcomes people of all faiths to experience ancient meditation techniques and enjoy a free vegetarian dinner. It boasts the world's largest vegetarian food relief program. Other activities include a Sunday school and traditional classes in Sanskrit and bhakti yoga.
