Hutchinson International is a rigging and construction services company serving the Washington, D.C., area. Originally known as United Rigging, the company was founded in 1969. The company has experience in all phases of heavy rigging and hauling. Whether a customer s needs involve moving a 500-pound air conditioning unit, a 100,000-pound chiller or a 400,000-pound transformer. The company originally installed the exhibits at The Air and Space Museum when it was built in 1976. Hutchinson was the rigging contractor that was selected by the official architect of the capitol to remove and reinstall the priceless Statue of Freedom for the United States capitol. The removal of the statue was the first time it had been removed since it was placed upon the Capitol in 1863. The company is headquartered in Beltsville, Md.
