The Harbour School, located in Owings Mills, Md., provides education to students with learning disabilities. Founded in 1982, it offers a supportive environment with individualized attention to students in grades one through 12. The lower school provides a foundation in social and academic skills, with an emphasis on hands-on learning. The academic program includes reading, language arts, math, science, social studies and computer science. Students are encouraged to demonstrate skill mastery in order to progress from grade to grade in high school. The school offers clinical services, speech and language therapies, a media center, life management lab, career center for job training, gym and auditorium. Its Village Day program provides students with the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of extracurricular activities, including a performing arts theater, bookstore, school newspaper, literary magazine and the yearbook.
